Make One Change

As I sit here this morning thinking about what to write above a few ideas came to mind - a couple of which I'll save for next week - but one kept coming back.

Make one change this week.

I think we all get stuck sometimes. We don't know where to start or how to make a change. With so much circulating out there - diets, training programs, trainers, magazines, conflicting theories, the list goes on - it's hard to know what to do, when to do it, who to go with, or where to start. I totally know. I, like you, feel the same frustration. It's not just the newbies who feel overwhelmed sometimes. I get stuck and what used to get results no longer does. I become stagnate. Less motivated. Unwilling.

With so much readily available to us, its hard to know which way is best (what might appeal and work to some might not be what's appealing and is going to work for you) and how to start making those changes immediately. Sometimes you might even wonder why even try?

When I get overwhelmed like that or I feel defeated (this doesn't just apply to working out), I try to focus on one positive change I can make THAT week. If I've been slacking and I'm over-indulging in a bunch of areas, I'll pick just one to really focus on that week...whatever it might be.

Just one change.

  • Drink 2 gallons of water daily THIS week.
  • Cut out the extra fats THIS week.
  • Cut back on the extra sugars THIS week.
  • Use Balsamic Vinegar tonight instead of Dressing THIS week.
  • Get in at least 20 miles THIS week.
  • Increase the Stepmill to level 15 not 10 THIS week.
  • Eat yams instead of loaded white potatoes THIS week.

Whatever it might be. You decide. We all have our areas of weakness. I certainly know mine.

Just one change. When you narrow it down and start small, it seems so much more doable. It's goal-setting, but it's not unrealistic. Small changes can lead to huge results. One change a week will add up quickly. Those changes with time will become habits. Habits will become routine. Routine will lead to results. The idea is to constantly challenge yourself. Its so rewarding when you overcome even the simplest of goals.

Just one change.

What's your change going to be? **smile**
