My Story:
I'm 20 years old and have been competing since i was 18. I'm a dancer/ fitness competitor. Not only do I compete in "Figure" but I also compete in "Crossfit" for UteCrossfit. I grew up the youngest of four and was always my dad's little helper. Playing sports and being active was in my blood and as I have gotten older I have made an "active lifestyle" more of a career then a hobby. During my first year at the University of Utah as a Modern Dance Major, I gained about 10 lbs all too the difference in eating style and dance style that i had been doing. That's when I decided that I wanted something to change. During one of my Major Dance classes Jenny Larsen, aka "Miss Fitness Utah" came to teach a "kickboxing" class. I immediately fell in love with her personality and fitness lifestyle; I then began by training with her a couple times a week and practicing movements like "one handed push-ups" to prepare for my first competition. One day during the summer of 2008 me and my roommate while grocery shopping came across a man that was very nice and outgoing, he was there gathering his weekly groceries for his competition diet. I mentioned my goal of being the next "Miss Fitness" when he gave me his trainers name and number. This is where i met my trainer today, Peter Kiawtkowski. I guess you could say that the opportunity to become a "Figure" competitor just fell into my lap. I took the opportunity and ran with it. I ended up taking 1st place in Figure Tall and 2nd overall in my very first show. I didn't start lifting weights until this competition prep but because of my genetic makeup i already had the muscle mass and density that I needed. I believe that I was born to excel in the fitness world, I know I'm young but I feel that the time is now for me to keep progressing. I'm qualified to compete at a national level and that is exactly what i am about to do. Everyday that i work hard i am one step closer to achieving my goals.
